Field Radio for the Club Net

York Radio Club G1YRC & G4YRC have a 2m net every Wednesday evening and i’m normally busy with Scouts then but this week was half term and no scouts so I took the opertunity to try and join. I use my ic-705 for 2m which only has 10 watts on full power and 5 watts if using the internal battery so it can be hit and miss to if people can hear me on the nets.

I decied to try and give myself the best chance of jonining in and decied to try to join from the grounds of the local church, its a bit higher up then my QTH (home) and had direct line of sight to York. To really give myself an advtange I also took along a yagi directional atennna. Also had an external battery back so I could use the full 10 watts. POWER!

I got the ic-705 and atenna set up and could hear the net just starting. I keyed up and broke in to the net. Had many comments about how loud my signal was which was great to hear.

Had a lovely chat with the rest of the club members on the net.
