I started looking at setting up a raspbery pi to use with the ic-705 so I could use digital modes whilst out and about. I was getting somewhere with it when I found SDR-Control for iOS. A little pricy for an iPad app but the reviews were all very good so I took a punt. It was worth the cost.
As its a app store store, no hard install to do, just set up the radio profile and my details in the app and I was away. Currently it only does FT8 for digital modes but it does it very well.
