Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) weekend and my district has no interest in participating so I went over to Malton to see M7FPX (Al) and his scout JOTA, more about that here.
I had a plan to be away from their site in a park but close enough to give them easy contacts on maybe 40m and 2m.
I got parked up at location M7FPX and I worked from before and got set up. Rain was lashing down so I rigged a tarp up of the car boot to give me a dry working area, I’m not a fan of working from within the car.
Having worked this park before I had a few bands already done and wanted to try and get a few more towards the James F. LaPorta N1CC activator award.
Conditions were pants but managed to get the bands I need on FT8.
Disappointingly I did not get to work many JOTA stations but I did hear 2 talking, one in Ireland and the other in the North of England and it turned out someone at one site was related to someone at the other!
