Was up in Studley Roger with the XLY and radio dog for a nice weekend away. Had planned on doing this early doors but bed was warm and decided to sleep in.

Had a lovely walk in the afternoon round the 7 bridges, radio dog was not the best dog, but he had fun and finally listened to us. Once back at the house I decided to go out and try and activate the parks.

I entered the park and was really close to the deer, I did wonder if it was a wise idea but did it any way.

Deer

Had seen G5LSI was at Fulford Ings so had a listen and could hear him but he could not copy me. Oh well, there will be other parks and other days.

Started by hunting some fellow POTA operators, OE1DXU and PE1ISP, then tried calling CQ but was getting no where. So turned the dial and see who else I could hunt. Found Paisley Amateur Radio Club calling on 20m and returned my call.

Tried again calling CQ and got 3 more in the log including EA1BUL, a great POTA hunter!

Thought I would try 10 m and had to turn of the dial and found an NF6P calling CQ POTA from Florida. I tried calling him, but he couldn’t quite hear what my callsign and said try again in few mins. I tried again in bit and this time he heard me and copied my callsign. Great to have a park to park with a different continent.

Went back 20m and finally got enough contacts to activate. By then it was dark so packed up and walk the 500m home.
