After already activating Selby Park GB-3444 M7GAX (Gaz) and myself had decided to pop down and activate this other local new park.
I got there first and parked up, I had a look at the maps and I think this is a field only activation and the car park is not in the grounds of the park.
Spoke to Gaz when he arrived and we agreed to walk in to the park. Radio dog was very happy about this.
After a short but nice walk in we found an open’ish area to set up. Gaz would be on 20m and myself on 40m.
I got set up and started calling CQ, Alex PD3RL came back almost straight away, closely followed by Leandro G5LSI. Always great to get them in the log.
At this point Gaz started to pack up as his battery was flat! So I said come and work dual operators with me.
We worked the rest of the activation swapping the mic between us which was fun.
It was starting to get cold again and radio dog was shivering as it was a nature reserve he was not allowed off the lead, so time to pack up.
As Gaz went to pack up the rest of his kit we called each other on handhelds just for the fun of it.
Then it was a nice walk back to the car to get warm and had home.
