G5LSI has a nice antenna set up portable operations when you cannot put a mast up or even stick something the ground.
It’s the slidewinder coil and antenna going in to a dipole centre, then attached to a tripod. The radials were attached but not in nice clean way.
I like the setup so I got myself the tripod. I already had the dipole center. G5LSI had asked Simon from York Radio club if he could make a threaded nut as the tripod and dipole center were different threads. Once we got them the antenna set up worked really well apart from the radials.
I had an idea and found some large metal discs, I had to enlarge the center hole so it would fit over the nut Simon had made. At 4 points on the disc I drilled a hole and put in a bolt and nut. Then placed on that a small wire with a loop at one end to go over the bolt and spade connector at the other to attach the radials.
